Set up your church on Talantul

Plain steps for church leaders, teachers and families. Keep this page open while you set up, or print it.

For church leaders

The contest team invited you to lead your church on Talantul. These six steps get your church going, and most take a few minutes.

  1. Set up your account

Where: Set up my accountCreate account and join

Open the link in your invite email. Choose a nickname and a password (an age group only if you take part in the contest yourself), then press Create account and join. It takes about 2 minutes, and you land on Teach.

Tip: Already on Talantul? Press Sign in to accept and sign in with the email address the invite went to.

  2. Create your classes

    Where: TeachNew class

Make one class for each age group. Pick the age groups it teaches, the days it meets, the start time and the room, then press Create class. Kids who sign up in that age group are suggested to the class.

Tip: Kids joined before the class existed? On the Members tab, under Kids without a class, press Refresh suggestions.

  3. Invite your teachers

    Where: TeachTeachersAdd a teacher

Press Add a teacher, type the teacher’s email and press Send an invite. They get an email with a link to set up their account. Someone already in your church? Type their nickname instead and press Make them a teacher.

Tip: Inviting several people, or a second leader? Use the invite form below the list: Paste a list takes names and emails straight from a spreadsheet, the role Co-leader makes a co-leader, and you can pick the classes each one teaches.

  4. Share your join code with families

    Where: TeachGetting startedCopy join link

Your church’s join code is at the top of Teach. Kids type it when they sign up and land in your church right away. The join link does the same, with the code already filled in.

Tip: Paste the join link into your church’s WhatsApp group or newsletter. The Families part of this guide is written for parents.

  5. Approve kids who picked your church without the code

    Where: TeachMembersWaiting on you

A child who chose your church from the list, without the code, waits for you here. Press Approve for each child you know.

Tip: Teachers can also let a waiting child in from their class: Kids → Approve & enrol.

  6. Watch progress

    Where: TeachReport

The church report shows every member’s talents, the last 30 days and who has gone quiet, with a CSV download. Each class also has a Progress tab.

Tip: Every Monday the teachers of each class get an email with last week’s summary.

For teachers

Your church leader invited you to teach. This is a normal week on Talantul.

  2. Open your class

    Where: Teach

Your classes are listed on Teach, each with a New practice test button. Tap one to open it. Along the top are the tabs Kids, Tests, Attendance, Talents, Progress and Homework.

Tip: On the Kids tab, kids who signed up in your class’s age group are suggested: press Accept to put them in your class. Don’t see your class? Ask your church leader to put you on it.

  3. Take attendance and give talents each week

    Where: AttendanceSave attendance

Pick the day, tap Present or Late for each kid (Everyone present marks them all), then press Save attendance. Kids earn talents for coming.

Tip: For a verse learned or a job well done: Talents → Give talents. Class talents have a weekly cap, so every class plays fair.

  4. Set homework

    Where: HomeworkAssign

Choose a game, a book and a chapter, and a due date, then press Assign. Kids see it on their home page, and you see how many have done it.

Tip: News for the class goes under Announcements, on the same tab.

  5. Give practice tests

    Where: TestsNew practice testBuild test

Pick the book and the chapters (the contest's mix is ready, and it takes what the chapter has), then press Build test. On the test's page, press Print the test: it opens the test, and you choose how many copies in the print window. Answer key and Blank answer sheet are right below. Once kids are in the class, Print with names also makes each kid's answer sheet with their name and participant ID filled in.

Tip: After the test, press Scan sheets and hold your phone’s camera over each sheet. Scores and talents are saved for you. For homework, pick At home: each kid scans their own sheet with their phone.

  6. Watch class progress

    Where: Progress

See each kid’s week: talents, games, daily quizzes, chapters and attendance. The arrows show earlier weeks.

Tip: Every Monday you get an email with last week’s summary.

For families

Share this part with parents. Signing up takes a few minutes.

  1. Open your church’s join link

The link from your church opens the sign-up form with the Join code already filled in. No link? Press Create an account on this site and type the code your church leader gave you.

  2. Choose the age group

The age group decides which books the child studies and sees in the games. Pick the child’s contest group:

    • Grades P–11 & 2 Samuel, Jude
    • Grades 2–31 & 2 Samuel, Jude
    • Grades 4–51 & 2 Samuel, 1 Peter
    • Grades 6–71 & 2 Samuel, Philippians
    • Grades 8–91 & 2 Samuel, Galatians
    • Grades 10–111 & 2 Samuel, Hebrews
    • Grade 12–34 years1 & 2 Samuel, Hebrews
    • Age 35+1 & 2 Samuel, Hebrews
  3. One family email is fine

Brothers and sisters can share one family email. Each child needs their own nickname and password, and signs in with the nickname.

  4. No code?

Pick your church from the list instead. The child can sign in right away, and the games open once your church leader approves them.

  5. Take-home tests

When a teacher gives a take-home test, it shows on the child’s home page. Fill in the answer sheet with a dark pen, then open the test and press Scan your sheet: hold the phone over the sheet until the four corner squares turn green. The score and the right answers show at once.

Questions

The invite email went to the wrong address, or I lost it.
Ask whoever invited you for a new link. Leaders find every invite on Teach → Teachers, under Pending invites, with Copy link and Resend.
The link says it has expired.
Invite links work for 14 days. Ask for a new one: Resend sends the link again, and it works for another 14 days.
Can a family share one email?
Yes. Everyone has their own nickname and password. Sign in with your nickname.
How do I add a second leader?
Invite them on Teach → Teachers, with the role Co-leader. A co-leader can do everything a leader can.
A child picked the wrong age group.
The child can change it on their Profile page. A teacher can change it too: open the class, then Kids → Manage → Age group.
Do we need to install anything?
No. Talantul works in the browser, on phones, tablets and computers.
